Tuesday's Feature: ToryMakes

Meet Tory of ToryMakes.

AE:  Who are you and what is it that you do/make?
TM:  ToryMakes is a small scale online boutique, based in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, specializing in whimsical custom hand knit and crochet hats. These creations make perfect newborn photo props, baby shower gifts and are perfect for everyday wear for baby, toddlers, kids and sometimes even adults.

AE:  How did you get started/What is the motivation behind your work?
TM:  My love for designing crochet and knit accessories for kids started when I had kids and realized that I wasn't super into the "cutesy" stuff meant for babies. There are only so many pale yellow and baby pink items a kid can have! It went from there. I'm completely enamored by the entire process. I love that I can pick up some sticks/a hook and a pile of string and end up with something tangible and beautiful and useful! One of a kind, wearable pieces of art.

I especially love designing for children because practical isn't always a high priority for kids gear. Kids can still get away with whimsical and fun, and I love creating for the young at heart!

AE:  Where can we find your work?
TM:  I can be found at www.torymakes.com and www.torymakes.etsy.com

You know there's a soft spot in my heart for hand-knitted and crocheted items.  Take a moment to stop by Tory's shops to see more of her lovely creations.

Peace & Love,
