Kale, field tomatoes, new potatoes, jalapeños, peaches, pickling cucumbers, sweet corn, cantaloupe
Mom and I gave the cantaloupe and a couple of peaches to someone at church. Mom stewed the corn. That was good. She also sauteed the kale and sauteed some zucchini and yellow squash with onions and red bell pepper. Those two dishes she served for Sunday dinner. Yum again.
I never used the tomatillos from last week. I was planning on making a roasted tomatillo salsa but couldn't find any jalapeños in the store (weird). Fortunately jalapeños came in this box so now I can make that salsa this week. For the rest of the jalapeños, I'm going to make a flavored vinegar.
As for the peaches, I did eat one or two, but the rest are going in the freezer. I do like peaches, but only when firm like an apple when eaten straight out, otherwise, I like them peeled and sliced in other dishes. I'm seriously considering a peach salsa or chutney just to see if I like it. I imagine I would.
