Knitted Purple Ribbon Scarf

Last month I was commissioned to make a scarf using Red Heart's Ribbon yarn.  I accepted the offer without really knowing how to use that particular yarn and also without having picked up knitting needles in almost a year!

After watching a couple of YouTube videos, I decided to get started on this project over the holidays.  As this yarn is a ribbon, great care has to be taken to ensure that the yarn stays flat at all times.  It's amazing the pretty ruffles that are made with some simple techniques.

The finished product.

If you're interested in trying this yarn or making this particular scarf, here is the video that I found most helpful.

I did choose to knit rather than crochet with this yarn because I've found that these types of novelty yarns are usually easier to manage on knitting needles.  Trust me, when I saw all of what was involved to crochet it, I ran to grab the needles!

So what about you?  Have you ever used this yarn before?  Details please.  :-)

Happy Crafting,

  2. I've never used this kind of yarn before. I normally stay away from novelty yarns. You did a fabulous job with this ribbon one and the color is gorgeous!

  4. I haven't used it either. As Kar said I usually stay away from them but your scarf made me think twice about that. It turned out really beautifully!
