What's Going On...

Just so you know I haven't moved to another planet, here's just a tidbit of what's going on....

  • If you believe in prayer, I think prayers should go out to people everywhere.  There are so many people who are hurting in so many ways right now.  And even when you're dealing with your own set of troubles, people still need you to help with theirs.  Right now my mom is at the hospital waiting with a dear friend.  My mom has been there since 11:00 a.m., came home to get a few things, and has gone right back.
  • I'm really missing my dad right now.  I think my brother is too and plus he lives so far away that he can't even visit him, so he's been bugging me about sending him a good picture of daddy.  So I did.  And I made a copy for my mom and myself.  I put it on the nightstand, and later I realized that it was too much to bear right now, so I put it on my desk at work.  There I see his smiling face and the kids say hey to him too.  It makes me feel better.  And now I'm crying, so I'll move on to something else.
  • My co-worker and I are taking a group of kids to a state convention next week.  It'll be their first experience attending and competing.  Then I realized that I'll be sharing a room with my co-worker and so I better at least buy a decent night gown or something because what I wear at home would be too shameful.  lol  My mom told me to just buy a night gown today.  It didn't matter how it looked because she knows I wouldn't like it anyways.  (I'm picky about things like that.)  Her advice:  You know the only one you'll like is one you sew yourself.  But ain't nobody got time for that.  So I found one on clearance and hope it's not too tight.  Didn't feel like trying it on.
  • Speaking of tight.  Or rather the opposite, since I quit jogging I've apparently lost 15 pounds!  Not on purpose.  And yes I eat, but I haven't had much appetite in a couple of months now so each meal is lighter.  Case in point, where I used to eat a chicken biscuit from Bojangles when I was on the way to work, now I basically eat applesauce and some peanut butter crackers.  I've been to the doctor and he's not too worried, but I just want to make sure it doesn't keep dropping.  Then I'll need all those clothes I donated to the Christian Closet at the end of December.
  • And there is a little of crocheting going on since I was released from the chiropractor last week.  I made a newborn UNC hat, still finishing up a slouch hat, planning in my head for the charting needed to make someone a custom "Obama" hat.  She'll definitely have an original.
Now that I've spilled my guts (or as much as I'm willing to say right now), it's time for me to get ready for bed in case my mom calls and needs me in the wee hours at the hospital.  At least I might have some sleep.

Sorry there's no pictures this time.

XOXO,

Life As I Know It - Weekly Update #30 {Vlog}

It seems that every week is a busy week, and the funny thing is, I only worked 2 1/2 days this week.  Monday we were out in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King's Birthday, then Tuesday was a workday, Wednesday was benchmark testing for Science all day, I taught on Thursday, and then we had inclement weather and worked half a day on Friday!  But what you don't know is all the in-between stuff.  There's always in-between stuff.

I'm glad to say that on Thursday, the chiropractor released me from his services.  I have been going there after the wreck.  And I will say that going there was a blessing.  At the moment of the wreck I had a headache that didn't go away, not even with 800-1600 mg of Ibuprofen.  The limit is 2400 mg, but I don't like maxing out on meds; too many side effects.  Only until I went to the chiropractor did those blasting headaches go away.  Amazing!

Since I got this Macbook, I've been obsessed with fulfilling these ideas I've been having about building upon the concept of what is "Artistic Expressions by Elisabeth."  To do that socially, you really do need the "right" equipment.  And for me, and what I do, having a Mac is a big component in the "right" equipment.

There's a lot of behind the scenes stuff that goes on with starting a business.  A lot of revamping, strategizing, and one day actually creating something.  Sometimes I think so linearly that it hinders me from creating what's also lingering in my head because I need to have things done in a certain order.  Trust me, I will be doing a post on how this process works for me.

Yesterday I was supposed to vend at an Arts Showcase, but due to the weather it was fortunately rescheduled.  I decided to make a vlog and a video.  A vlog about my day on yesterday and an actual video to show the items that will be taken to the show whenever I get the new date.

Enjoy!

Will it Happen or Not?

Today I'm scheduled to vend a the 2nd Annual River Roots Arts Showcase.  I'm all packed up and ready to go, but now we have a forecast calling for a wintery mix, which could mean a bit of anything.  So now it's a moment by moment situation.  If my job calls us to go home early or the university where the Showcase is held closes, then the event won't happen.  This is one of my favorite events and I love being with the amazing artists in this Arts Guild.

We shall see what today beholds....

ETA:  So, work closed half day and it was already snowing and sleeting where I live (which is the opposite direction of the Showcase).  Needless to say, I won't be attending.  I will post a video showing you what I had intended to bring, just in case you're curious.  :-)

ETA:  The Showcase was postponed, not cancelled.  My work is not in vain!

Happy Friday,
