Happy Birthday, Grandma B!

On August 13th, my Grandma B turned 81 years young!   We celebrated a few days early because her birthday fell on a Tuesday and we were not all able to be there at the same time.  However, those of us who could celebrated with grandma on the Saturday before.  We took her to a local festival and then celebrated in her home with a wonderful meal.  She was so happy and excited.  When we arrived to her house, she already had her sun hat out ready to attend the festival.

After the festival, we decorated the table and put a helium balloon on grandma's chair.  As with any of my family celebrations, there was lots of food.

Aunt Pat's famous baby back ribs
Baby Carrots cooked in some water and ginger ale.  My mom fascinates me with these cooking tricks!

English cucumbers + fresh tomatoes purchased off the back of a truck.  That's how we do it here.  :-)

After we ate, we place candles on grandma's favorite type of cake - coconut cake.  This one had a very light, whipped icing and wasn't super sweet like many cakes like this often are.  Grandma loved this cake and even got seconds which is very rare.

Grandma B is my only remaining grandparent.  It really is such a joy to be able to spend time with her.  I know she had a wonderful birthday and may God grant her many, many more!
