Crepe Myrtle Festival 2013

In this last segment of the Family blog series, I want to share with you an example of a recent family-fun experience that my family participated in.  Remember how I told you that my grandma celebrated a birthday recently?  One of the things she truly enjoys is attending the local Crepe Myrtle Festival in her area.

She doesn't do a lot of walking around the festival; perhaps stopping by and speaking to the locals that she knows on her way to the part where they play live music.  She puts her lawn chair out and just enjoys the live music and clogging groups.  It's just a joy to see her enjoy this event.  And what's the cost of attending a local festival?  Nothing.  Sure, if you choose, you can support the vendors there and it's very likely that you might purchase a drink or snack, but is it a requirement?  Absolutely not.

This couple told us their love story of how they met and have been married for 45 years and still smiling...and holding hands.  :-)
 Face painting and painted tatoos

 Live music
Jacks - potato jacks, apple jacks, and peach jacks (like turnovers)
 Miniature pecan pies
A happy camper!

I hope you enjoyed this "Family" themed blog series this week.  Stop back by next week for the "Back to School" series.  In the meantime, I hope you enjoy some of the photos taken at this year's Crepe Myrtle Festival.
