I tried...

All day I've been feeling, blah.  I didn't even try to put on my contacts this morning.  I didn't say anything when a student said, "You look old in your glasses."  I didn't even want to run. But then I considered my event date - two weeks from now, considered my weekly schedule and decided that today was not a day I could lose.  So I decided first to take a nap, something I never do.  I should have known something wasn't right.

It all started with the change in temperature.  Yes, I welcome the cooler season and yes Fall is still my most favorite season, but I have to admit that the change in temperature affects my body.  I'm not sure what's going on.  Could be sinuses.  Could be a cold.  Could be tiredness piled on.  Who knows.  But what I do know is this, I could not complete my run.  I did not feel well, so I went home and made a cup of Thera Flu and reached to get the flannel sheets which I know I will need.  I'm such a cold-natured person.

Cinnamon Apple Thera Flu and ginger candies

And guess what?  My race materials arrived today.  By the grace of God, I will participate in this race.  I've come to terms with the fact that I may end up finishing my training after the event, but I know I won't be the only person in the world who's ever done that.  I've also come to terms with the fact (sort of) that I will be doing this event by myself.  I'd love to have a friend or family member participating in this event with me or know that someone was waiting for me to cross that finish line, but the truth is that's not the case.  But I do know that if I'm #785, then there will be plenty of strangers who will share in this joy with me...and that's okay.   :-)

This shirt needs to become acquainted with my iron.  :-)

  2. I am under the weather too. Stress really affects me, my immune system goes down, and I get sick! no fun. I am a cold nature person too. Some rest and hot liquids should work.

  3. I hope you feel better Libby. Something hit me two weekends ago and it was not pretty. Just take it easy and relax so that you can do that race. And you know that if I was in the area I would be right at the finish line waiting for you to finish. Know that I will be there with you in spirit and envision some loon jumping up and down cheering for you as you cross the finish line. Scary I know. :)
