C25K - Week 5, Day 3

20 minutes straight. Can you believe it? Yes, today's workout included me running for 20 minutes without stopping.  And I did it!

In the first 5 minutes, I was thinking 20 minutes of this is going to be a challenge.  But after my body got adjusted to jogging and I got my focus straight, it really wasn't bad.  It helped to see the running man who passed and waved almost each time.  He was such a steady runner.  Although I'm no where in his league, it was nice to push to make sure that when we passed again, I would be further than the last time.  Yeah, he was actually running and I was jogging.  Let me also clarify by saying, we were going in opposite directions on the trail.

So anyways, I'm one workout past halfway and although I still haven't gotten to a full 2 miles...yet, I'm encouraged to know that there is still time to reach that goal.  My longest distance is 1.98 miles to-date.  I'll definitely let you know when I make it.  And today, I went ahead and sent in my registration to the Women's Only 5K on October 6.  No turning back now.  :-)

Week 5, Day 3
p.s.  It's official.  I can wash my hair now.  So glad!  I think my twists were starting to turn to dreadlocs.

  4. Wow - 1.98 - you're so close. The more you run, I think you'll find that there's this difficult block in the first leg, but once you get past it - the last part of the run is easier than the first! At least that's true for me...You're doing great!
