This workout consisted of 3 sets of jogging for 5 minutes, with 3 minute walks in between. I decided to do a couple of things. I downloaded a new play list with more upbeat inspirational songs. I also decided to complete my route backwards, meaning I just ran the other direction, so instead of having that steep hill to run up, it meant that the first task was to jog down that hill. Is that cheating? Not really, there were other hills along the trail, and actually I feel like it gave me a bit of momentum to complete this workout. I covered more distance and felt pretty good during the workout. Normally on the Day 1 workout, I can hardly make it, I can't find my right rhythm, but today was different.
Now I will admit that during that last 5 minute jogging episode, I felt like quitting. I even heard myself tell myself, "I can't do this." But in my heart I knew I could. I peeked at my time and realized I only had to jog for 25 seconds and then it was time for the cool down. Seeing that time, gave me the strength to hold out. :-)
I decided to try a chocolate protein shake today. I did some reading last night about whether you should drink the shake before or after the workout. Still not quite sure of all of what I read. It seems like if you drink something with whey in it, you need to drink it prior to the workout. Anyhoo, I drank a little before and a little after. It was tasty, this drink will cure any chocolate attacks you may have, but I couldn't drink but half of this. Save some for another time. I'll get the rest of my protein elsewhere. I'm making a Peruvian shrimp soup today. Yum Yum.
