C25K - Week 3, Day 3

This has been a long week and I was wondering how I was going to get in my Day 3 run in, but I was able to squeeze in some time between the hectic schedule.  It makes me wonder how I will set up my routine once school resumes with the students.  For sure my schedule will be much different than it is now.  I know that I'll have to have that much more determination so that I won't make excuses for why I can't meet my goal.

I don't consider myself a very competitive person, but I am definitely goal-oriented.  When I jog, I make visual markers and set the goal to be past that marker on the next day of training at the same given time.  I also use other people on the trail as markers.  During the walking phase, I find someone at an appropriate distance away and set the goal to pass them when I start jogging.  Now if they're jogging, I don't use them.  I use someone who is walking.  It feels good to pass them (even if they catch back up to me when I start walking again).

Today it was a joy to pass this man (in my mind I called him the 'tattooed blue shirt man').  He was jogging the entire time, but we were going in opposite directions.  About 3 or 4 times we would pass each other, give that 'nod of recognition' and keep going.  As he would approach I would check out his form and I was impressed by the steady pace he jogged the entire time.  That will be a future goal of mine.  I don't know what I look like when I jog (and I don't care at this point), BUT, I must give honor where honor is due.  Some people run beautifully.  :-)

BTW, I did switch trainer voices on my app and I like it much better.  She's much more gentile than the other one.

So, today's jog completes week 3.  I'm getting close to halfway the program.  Yay!  Thank you so much for all of you who have been very encouraging along this journey.  It really means a lot.
Week 3, Day 3
Look at that crazy mess atop my head.  All resemblance of a hair style is totally gone.  I've got to figure out what to do.  I read online that Sally's Beauty Supply carries a Dri-Sweat band in some of their stores.  I'll check into that because you know I can't wash my hair after each workout.  I'd be bald!

  4. I just discovered your blog today. I am also doing the c25k program. I am on week 3 day 2. While some days seem easy in the beginning, by the end I'm forcing my feet to just move. My girlfriends want me to sign up for the Princess half marathon in Disney World. I'm not sure I will be able to run that far. I'm still trying to get beyond 2.2 miles. You have inspired me to blog about my running. I will take some pics tomorrow and blog.
