A Corner of My World

I failed to mention that last Saturday I also planted 6 cherry tomato plants.  I had grande plans of a raised bed garden this year, but since I couldn't work my head around how to adequately protect the produce from the abundance of rabbit and deer in my area, I saved that idea for later and decided to once again do a couple of items in a container garden on my deck.

I'm looking forward to planting a few more items and I know that I'll re-pot these tomato plants, but for now they reside in upcycled buckets from another year's produce.  These tomato plants were purchased from a school fundraiser.  They say "full sun", but I'm going to see if they can stand the heat of the "full sun" that invades my back yard.  :-)

Happy Gardening,

  1. I have to grow my tomatoes in pots, but it's because almost the only sun in my yard is in my driveway! I bet you'll have better luck with yours with all your sun.

  2. I really need to get moving with my garden. Hopefully next weekend I can get things finished with it. I hope.

  3. I have a friend (my knitting male friend, Pau's dad) who always tries to grow cherry tomatoes on his balcony. Maybe you won't need to replant them later on the ground. I think a bigger pot will do and you will keep them safe from rabbits.

  4. LOL! Libby I plan to do the same this year. I guess I better head on out to the nursery to pick up some vegetables before it's too late.

  5. Good luck with your tomatoes! My parents grow cherry tomatoes in planters every year so they always have fresh ones for salad!
