Lightbox Construction

Today I spent some time finally constructing a DIY lightbox that I've been putting off for a while. Thanks to Erica, I was inspired to make my own studio setup. And, thanks to the post on the Strobist blog (How to: DIY $10 Macro Photo Studio) I was given some instructions on how to make a lightbox with very basic materials. It only costs $10 if you have just about everything, but it's much cheaper than a tent. Maybe one day I will purchase a light tent, but hopefully this setup will work for a while.

I have to finish the inside: cover the back of the box and possibly extend the posterboard. Apparently black posterboard is not sold around here until school actually starts. ??? I decided to leave the bottom on this box until I see just how I will use it. If I need to cut the bottom off later, then I'll do that then.

I've seen some tents where you literally enclose your camera so that the objects are surrounded in light. Some even have an opening in the top where you can suspend items like jewelry. I hope you can find what you need for your dolls for a good price. :-)

  2. Hi Libby, I tried to post last night but I couldn't for some reason. Anyway your lightbox is looking good. I one made exactly like it myself and it works great. Buy a lot of different color poster board's so that you can change it up on the inside. Enjoy!!!

  3. Yeah, I know Frank. I don't know what's up with Blogger sometimes. I reloaded my template and changed my comment form to "trick" it. lol

It's good to know the box really works. I bought some lamps too. I'll try the posterboard, but I have a huge fabric stash and I would like to see how that will work as well. Now I just need to have fun playing with my camera settings. :-)

  4. Thanks for the links! I'll take a look and then decide to make it or to buy it.

Comments not working was weird. I like pink & black theme :-)

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Bloggy comments make me smile and responding via email makes me smile even more. Due to spam concerns, posting anonymously has been removed as an option.

If you would like for me to respond to your comment(s), you must not have a no-reply blogger status. To fix that, simply add an email address in your profile and voila, I'll be able to write you back. :-)
