Rekindling the Photo Bug
I know it's been quite some time since I've discussed photography. It isn't that I've forgotten about it. Hey, I'm still trying to pay off the camera that I'm using! It is that my schedule has gotten a little more complicated and now that I've learned the difference between taking pictures and making photographs/images, I tend to take less "pictures" until I have the time to devote to getting it right - or at least venturing away from the automatic features.
Today I stopped by my parents' house and I noticed some peppers that they were given were sitting out. Fortunately, I had my DSLR camera with me. It was unfortunate that I didn't have my tripod. I've learned that the use of tripods really does make a difference.
At any rate, after I went back home and got my tripod, I decided to explore taking pictures of these beautiful peppers they had in the kitchen. I made my backdrop out of some sort of linen I found in one of the chest-of-drawers and then I snapped loads of pictures of the same subject. There are so many of the exact or near-exact position that I'll have to look with a closer eye to see which one(s) I like the most.
Here is a cropped version of one of the pictures of the peppers:
I've decided that maybe I should do somewhat like one of my art buddies. He made a pact with himself that he would draw something everyday. That's a bit much for me, but maybe I could try and make at least one photograph a week. That way I can develop the skill.
Well, it's getting late and after staying up until the wee hours of this morning working on this grant I'm applying for and then getting up at 5:00 A.M. to go walking (notice I didn't say jogging), I think I need to call it a night.
